Hanging out with David Axelrod and touring a murder site
There were lots of controversies this week - so many that it's hard to keep track of them all. But over at Bloggingheads.TV, Bill Scher and I had a great discussion and debate about my controversial column, "The Real Reason Robert Jeffress Didn't Belong in Jerusalem." It was a fun chat, you should check it out.
Obama and...Leopold and Loeb?
Who knew that the Obama home in Hyde Park was right next to the scene of the infamous Leopold and Loeb murder? That is, I didn't know until historian and author David Pietrusza took me on a guided tour, this week. Listen to my podcast about it here. (I don't think Obama had anything to do with this event, which happened in the 1920s, but I'm sure Alex Jones is investigating anyway.)
In other Obama/Chicago related news, I had a delightful lunch with David Axelrod at his favorite Chicago deli, Manny's. You can see pictures of all this of our lunch (and the Obama home) on my Instagram.
Is Rational Thought a Myth?
Also on the podcast, Robert Wright, author of Why Buddhism is True, talks about his new Wired piece, titled: Sam Harris and the Myth of Perfectly Rational Thought.
Jake Tapper and Batman
Jake Tapper delivered a great commencement speech at Amherst College. Seriously, it's full of great advice for anyone. The only commencement speech to top it came from Michael Keaton, who ended his talk with two profound words.
Thanks!
