"Trump's Eleven"?
In the movie Ocean’s Eleven, when Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt) tries to help Danny Ocean (George Clooney) assemble a diverse team of “proper villains," Rusty says that to get the job done, “I'd say you're looking at a Boesky, a Jim Brown, a Miss Daisy, two Jethros and a Leon Spinks, not to mention the biggest Ella Fitzgerald.”
Based on the eccentric cast of characters swirling around Republican politics the last couple of years (Paul Manafort, Corey Lewandowski, Stephen Miller, Omarosa, et al.), Donald Trump seems to have a similar affinity for casting con artists.
One can imagine his campaign desperately searching for “an Atwater, a Joe Pesci, two Himmlers, not to mention a Robin Quivers.”
If you are curious why modern conservatism looks like the bar scene in Star Wars, then check out my column on how conservatism has sadly become the home of a lot of weirdos.

Omarosa By Morning
On this week's episode of IMPORTANT STUFF, Shoshana Weissman and I discuss Omarosa's big book rollout, whether a tape exists of Trump using the n-word, former CIA Director John Brennan's revoked security clearance, how millennials are killing big mayonnaise, the death of Aretha Franklin, and more. Listen here. (Also, I was on CNN talking about Omarosa. Check it out.)

On The Podcast
During a recent podcast discussion, Henry Olsen, author of Working Class Republican, explained his theory on why the midterms won’t be won by playing to the base. He also discussed "Romney-Hillary" voters and "Obama-Trump voters," as well as why he thinks the GOP should double down on rural areas in the midterms.
