Rubio knew EXACTLY what he was doing.
It probably wasn’t even the weirdest thing that happened this week, but the confrontation between Marco Rubio and Alex Jones was my favorite.
“I just don’t know who you are, man,” Rubio said, brushing off Jones after the conspiracy theorist started heckling the Senator during a hallway press gaggle.
“Tens of millions of views. Bigger than Rush Limbaugh,” Jones fired back, perhaps coming off a little more defensively than he would have liked.
By virtue of his career choices, Jones has already chosen infamy over anonymity. But did Rubio really not recognize him?
Let's dispel once and for all the fiction that Marco Rubio didn't know what he was doing. Rubio knew EXACTLY what he was doing. To an egomaniac like Jones, there is no greater insult possible. By rolling his eyes and generally standing up to a crazy bully, Marco Rubio earned our plaudits this week.
He also had a much better week than his colleagues, Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, who generally beclowned themselves during the Supreme Court hearings for Brett Kavanaugh. My latest Daily Beast column discusses why Booker and Harris fell flat.

This week on the podcast, I talked with National Review's Jonah Goldberg about the Kavanaugh hearing, potential fallout from the new Bob Woodward book, Meghan McCain’s eulogy of her father, and the debate over impeachment. I also talked with New York Times culture reporter Dave Itzkoff about his great new book on Robin Williams.
