How to Be a Pundit
If you want to have a career as a columnist, commentator, podcasater, or author, why wouldn’t you take time to hear from someone who has done it?
When he heard that I was going to be teaching a workshop titled, "How to Be a Pundit," a somewhat cynical friend of mine didn’t pull any punches. "Doesn't participating in this seminar condemn you to like the 5th circle of Hell?" he emailed. "I mean this is full swamp insanity."
Yes, I realize the title conjures images of a snake oil salesman in an ill-fitting suit, peddling his get-famous-quick schemes in a Motel 6 conference room.
But here’s the thing: If you want to have a career as a columnist, commentator, podcaster, or author, why wouldn’t you take time to hear from someone who has done it? Wouldn’t you be crazy not to seek out the wisdom of others who have gone before you?
It turns out, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do this. Trust me, I know, because I learned the hard way. Whatever I’ve achieved in this arena has been through hard work. And I made tons of mistakes along the way.
What is more, during these workshops, I interview other professionals who have found a way to be successful writers, authors, and commentators. So students (you can attend in person—or on zoom!) get a chance to hear from other perspectives, and ask questions.
Now, maybe you’ve never wanted to write a column, launch a YouTube channel or podcast, go on TV, launch a Substack email newsletter, or publish a book. But for the rest of us, I highly recommend you attend my “How to Be a Pundit” workshop on Friday, June 10.
Trust me, we’re not going to get rich putting this on. In fact, the price is just $20 if you pre-register now! Sign up today to either attend in person at The Leadership Institute in Arlington, VA (price includes meals!)—or to participate on Zoom from home.
This workshop teaches aspiring columnists, authors, and commentators everything I’ve learned about how to pitch (and write) a political column, how to get on TV (and get invited back), launch a YouTube channel or podcast, and how to get a book deal (and promote your book).
I hope to see you there on Friday, June 10!
