When Donald Trump first appeared on the scene — gaudy, loud, selling steak and spite — some Republicans tried to mount a polite resistance. Then-Speaker of the House Paul Ryan insisted: “That’s not who we are.”
But as the years rolled on, and the rallies grew louder, and the hats more red, it became clear: that is EXACTLY who they are.
