Predictions are a dicey business, but (so far) mine have worked out well:
So far, so good. But the last I heard, Nevada isn’t headed my way. And we will have to wait until December to see if my Herschel Walker prediction will pan out.
Still, not a bad night for yours truly.
Speaking of prognosticators, I interviewed a lot of political analysts this year. But there was one guy who called B.S. on the “red wave” all along. His name is Simon Rosenberg. And if you want to understand what he saw and everyone else missed, check out our interview here:
Another sharp observer is The Atlantic’s David Frum. This Thursday, we talked about why Democrats had a better-than-expected night.
We also discussed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who (unlike a lot of Republicans) had a GREAT night.
DeSantis is also the topic of my latest column for The Daily Beast.
You should read the whole thing, but here is the part that has proven to be the most controversial on Twitter:
The American public is ready for a Republican governor who can lead and accomplish conservative public policy goals—while not constantly putting the country on the edge of nervous breakdown with illogical, unstable, uncompassionate, immoral, and possibly even illegal behavior.
If DeSantis can do that, he has a decent chance of being the next president of the United States, and winning my vote.
Only time will tell how this will play out. But one thing’s for sure: It’ll be interesting.
Lastly, it’s been a while since I have sent out a newsletter, so here are a few things you’ve missed.
My Halloween costume this year was Ted Lasso (or was it Mario or Mike Ditka?):
The foliage in WV/VA was the best I’ve seen in my life:
I made fun of Bill Scher’s Katie Hobbs prediction, and may live to regret it:
