Today, I had the pleasure of talking with former GOP Rep. .
Our conversation meandered across the political minefield: from Bill Maher’s inexplicable meeting with Donald Trump (performance art or just poor judgment?), to Gretchen Whitmer’s ill-timed Oval Office photo op (did someone forget how politics works?), to a hypothetical purge of the Never Trumpers severe enough to make Joe consider drafting his own exit strategy to Canada (or wherever).
We also touched on Trump’s beloved tariffs — the economic equivalent of lighting your house on fire to keep warm — and mused about what kind of Democrat might actually have the grit and credibility to win in the future. (Spoiler: that person looked suspiciously like Bernie Sanders, circa 2004.)
A special nod to Joe and to the brave souls who endured the glitchy, cursed first attempt at this live Substack chat.
